GLC-SX-MM EOL?

Possible reason You are under impression that it’s GLC-SX-MM EOL is this old announcement from year 2012 – End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Select Cisco Gigabit Ethernet SFP Modules. Don’t worry – Gigabit SFP Transceivers are still available and there is no reason that in foreseeable future it will be problems to fill Your GE SFP interfaces.

What’s really going on here is that in Year 2012 Cisco was changing something in nomenclature of their OEM transceivers. Our guess is that they introduced DDM (Digital Diagnostics Monitoring) or DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) as standard feature from that moment forward. We see from their material that product GLC-SX-MM (Description: GE SFP, LC connector SX transceiver) was replaced with new SKU GLC-SX-MMD (Description: 1000BASE-SX SFP transceiver module, MMF, 850nm, DOM). Same happened for GLC-LH-SM – it was replaced by new Cisco’s Part number – GLC-LH-SMD.

We hope that this clears up possible confusion and that technically it is GLC-SX-MM EOL, it’s replaced by basically same product, just with DDM/DOM included!
